WHO ARE WE ?
It is by traveling the beautiful Mauricie that the St-Maurice river becomes the host of La Classique Internationale de Canots since 1934. This great 200km race begins on Saturday with the departure from La Tuque, commencing a 75km course which ends in Trois-Rives. Along a stretch of 70km, it is at the heart of our region, Shawinigan, that ends the second phase.
On labor day, the ultimate phase takes place between Shawinigan and Trois-Rivières on 45km. It is approximately 65 000 visitors who, during 4 days of sports and cultural festivities, come celebrate these courageous and determined athletes confronting this legendary tempestuous river in their C2, K2 or Rabaska watercraft.
The primary mission of La Classique Internationale de Canots is to promote paddling sports in all its forms, and to bring together the population around a high level sports competition while bringing forward the magnificent St-Maurice Valley. With over 150 volunteers, La Classique generates an important economic impact throughout the Mauricie region. La Classique is also a plan for sustainable development and numerous partnerships with local companies and associations. La Classique Internationale de Canots is the must-see sports event.
